Many of the songs on the album allude to the imminent breakup of Simon & Garfunkel. In ´So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright´ Artie - an architecture major - is blurred with the character of the famous architect and is clearly the person with whom the singer recalls spending many nights harmonizing till dawn. Artie has said how hurt he was when he discovered that the song was actually saying ´so long´ to him.

OMG so that's what Simon means when he sings "architects may come and architects may go and never change your point of view" - he's giving Artie the finger, in musical terms. Oh well....still a beautiful song. So long

Paul and Art loved each other, they were brothers. All bands break up, except the Stones. After the breakup, they still hung out and as Paul said, "called each other nearly every day". Not an acrimonious split. Paul just wanted to do pop songs and ditch the folk sound, so he had to ditch Art musically. Don't hate on either of them.

Sorry, Michael Graves, no songs written for you, but thank you for your body of work that we immediately despise...

It's look like Bolsa Nova. A brazilian music style created about 1960.

put your thumb over Paul Simon's face, and it looks like Art Garfunkel has the most awesome walrus mustache ever.

SO very many memories attached to this album!! It is one of my all-time favorites, ever. It just fills me with emotion, and feelings from back when I first heard of (and listened to) S & G. Beautiful!!!

My thoughts are from NYC listening to this album in the early 70's from a balcony on the 24 floor over looking the Manhattan skyline, and Central Park West...totally Glorius & wonderful to say the least. As a young man visiting my friends we had a blast and I would do it all over again. As a married man living in the suburbs of NJ this song brings it all back. Come to NYC, put these tracks on your earbuds an just chill. The feel of Simon & Garfunkel will give you great memories of the way it was back then in the 60's of NY. Peace 2 ya who remember

When Art is s singing the Bridge song that Boris Karloff looking little brother was directly in front of Art, making this big yawn as to say boring. That little wretched helmet headed ass wipe with his stupid actions it makes me wonder why he was on this trip? Those hair styles are, omg I at a lost for words and it is greasy. If I had been Art, when he stood in front of me I would have pulled his little worm penis and his balls if he had any and shoved all of it up his ass. He (Eddie) is really a dick. Have some afternoon delight!

There is a four part interviews and songs Art and Simon did in !969, Simon & Garfunkel - Songs of America (full documentary 1969). This is the very first one and it is 52 minutes long. Posted by Weary, get the right one, please!! Others are short. The first is a lot about rehearsal for the up coming concert, Songs of America which I am proud to say part was filmed at Miami U in Oxford, Ohio, my home away from home. As it were Art said he ask Simon to write a song about Frank Lloyd Wright for him. Art also says he couldn't see himself in five years still singing. These interviews are very good. . Simon is in tears looking at Art in the first interview at marker 9:25.Simon did not want Art to leave. Art left on his own accord. These answers every question I have ever heard about these two and all four are very good reading. You have to be on the # one page. At the bottom they are numbered. I would like to say I have been their fan from the fifties. These interviews are very good. They were posted by Weary Sisphus. Also for the people that ask Art did have a guitar which Simon said Art didn't need it. Use the You Tube search bar not the other. Please some of you read some of these. Peace and a Mercedes hood ornament to all. Has any one read any of these NO!

Reading some of the comments here, I'm really disappointed. I grew up thinking this song was about one of the best American architects of all time. The man who inspired me and made me realise that buildings were an art form that had to empathise with the natural environment.

It's embarrassing that it took so long for Art to understand this was about him... and heart breaking all at the same time.

I'm grooving on Simon's haircut on the cover. Talk about DIY1960's fun.

Ahhh~! It's still there! At 2:56, there's some guy in the background shouting, "So long already!" It used to make me crack up so much when I was little.
