It was the day after Christmas 1972. I was on a C-9 Nightingale leaving Da Nang bound for Hawaii. I remember the wheels tucking up under the aircraft and this song starting to play. I knew I had survived Vietnam! From that point on this has been my favorite song. even today when I hear this song, I remember that flight out of the nightmare I was in.

Ten years later on November 20th, 1976 Paul Simon performed it in a duet with George Harrison on NBC's 'Saturday Night Live'... R.I.P. Mr. Harrison {1943 - 2001}...
