I think people who argue over whether or not this is "metal core" or "thrash" need to relax. Why the obsession with labels? It's Heavy Metal, period. You can't argue that. The comment section below indicates what happens when you try. I will say this...knowing these guys personally, they are far more influenced by thrash and 80's metal than anything else. The fact that Donais is now the full-time guitarist in Anthrax speaks volumes about what kind of people and band they are. Ask yourself if the guitar player for any "metalcore" band would fit in in a band like Anthrax. I think not.

I bought this album when it 1st came out not knowing what to expect (long time shadows fall fan). I was happy that they went back to the heavy side of things!!!!!!!!!!! I was disappointed in some of the albums before.

Wow.. doesnt even sound like shadows.. I like the new direction. The war within and Threads of life were kinda just half effort i felt compared to Art of balance. Just like Lamb of God.. They both released Art of balance and As the Palaces burn the same year.. both landmark albums.. Then they both release two half hearted albums after that.. Now 2012 and beyond looks fucking badass for both bands.
