Shad is by far my favourite rapper, one of the only ones with meaning in his lyrics

this moment when you discover a new song and you realize that it will probably always stay one of you favorite tunes. at least of the ones I discovered in 2013. what a flow!!

also listen to "First & Fifteenth" from his earlier work. That song alone shows how ill he is.

I see what you're saying, but you can't say his latest albums showed a decline. On Lasers, although I know the album turned out real bad, for all we know, Lupe could have been his best in that year, we just never got to hear him go to work. Listen to Horn Synth(to me one of his illest verses), What U Want, Who Are You Now, Stereo Sun, Fire. Now on F&L 2, I admit you could see changes in his flow and production. but he's still not out yet if you've heard poor decisions. Just wait, he'll be back.

Neither Shad or Lu are mainstream... its funny because I've heard both their mainstream "bangers" (rose garden and out of my head) rarely on the radio and the same goes for their vids on tv. regardless... both are dope lyrically..no...AMAZING lyrically.... with that said...for this tune...the sample is "a certain sadness" by astrud gilberto and I've got an "I want a claire huxtable" t-shirt...that line is one of the best I've ever heard. Really good and funny song overall

imho, Shad and Lupe shouldn't be considered for the best ever lyrically department. Right now, Shad's music is truly his own. Lupe's recent material is forced or made out of frustration. Lupe is still the same old Lu, just more blunt (carefully listen to Hurt Me Soul and Around My Way: same subject matter, but one spits more FACTS than witty lines). Shad just wants to have fun and not being completely shackled corporately has allowed him to stay that way. Both are dope and spitting knowledge

Oh come on, you have heard everything or near everything that lupes ever been a part of? We all know that's ridiculous. Shad is also, not better than Lupe lyrically. Not to say Shad isn't a good lyricist himself, because he is. If you have actually, really given a lot of lupes material a listen, then you would know Lupe is the greatest of all time, as far as lyricists go.

CONT... even in rap he is focused on conscious topics, uses more melodic beats and alot of vocals, and has a very unique flow. He is a far stretch from mainstream rap, and the same could be said about his more "pop(ular)" songs. At no point has Lupe had an influence on mainstream pop music, he just is able to incorporate a range of sound into his rap. Lupe is not mainstream pop shit, his career has proven that he is highly talented and a consistent force in the rap world. Lupe is good hip-hop.
