I find their appearance at Woodstock to be very poignant. It served as a reminder of rock and roll's origins. Really, watching them and watching Hendrix close after them is sort of "where we came from and where we are going" in the evolution of rock.

At 1:15 notice Jimi Hendrix, onstage and about to perform the immortal "Star Spangled Banner set," enjoying Rob. He'd played with Sha Na Na at a private club co-owned by Andy Warhol, and invited them to Woodstock to open for him. Rob's Fillmore version of Teen Angel is the definitive version, google the Fillmore archives at "Wolfgang's Vault." He has explained that as he walked to the front of the Woodstock stage, a solid wall of pot smoke hit him and he almost choked.
