Eighties Dutch disco star Selena (born 9th August 1965 in Nijmegen, real name after marriage Sabina Brons) was succesful in many European countries in the late 80's. In Finland for example she had a #1 hit. She did promotion, tv appearances etc. around Europe. Her music was released world wide, but success was limited to Europe. After her first and only album called Timebomb (1989) she released two singles (Time After Time, Hit Me With Your Lovin'), but they weren't succesful. There were no videos made for them, which at those days ment that the single will not get proper attention and was doomed to fade away. She also tried to advance in her career in a new direction and ended her collaboration with the dance hit producing duo Roosink & Verrips. The record buying audience didn't follow with her and clearly preferred her earlier familiar sound. The material for the second album, or at least the majority of it was recorded. It wasn't published by the record company (EMI Bovema BV) which didn't expect it to sell enough after recent failures of the singles. She ended her career as a singer in the early 90's.

Stage name "Selena" was originally chosen for her by her record company. Reason to this was that her real name Sabina was very close to Sabrina, bringing in mind Sabrina Salerno, the Italian eighties disco singer. Nowadays her beautiful first name is sometimes mistakenly referred as Sabine or Sabrina. She is frequently mistaken for the Mexican-American singer Selena.

She now lives in the village Valburg in Nijmegen. Her husband David Brons is the co-owner of the popular Matrixx dance club. Nowadays she makes some ceramic art sculptures, takes photos as a hobby and also works for Matrixx and the family company Davinzi Musik as producing performing arts and arranging the visuals, decorations, photo shoots etc. The two have children also.

It has been stated that as a ceramic artist she is spontaneous and wants to show her creativity and imagination. She doesn't have much classic training to work with clay, so she is not particularly interested in the technical aspects of her work. Most importantly she just does what she does. Her works must have colour, which is the most important thing for her. Her ceramic sculptures are often fantasy animals with human characteristics.

In 2002 she and her husband were the back forces behind Hula Girl, a young dance oriented "bubble gum" artist. She provided the lyrics to some tracks on Hula Girl's album (Hula All Over The World, Sunqueen from Hula Bay) and some background vocals. The video for Hula All Over The World was shot in Matrixx club. It was a hit in The Netherlands and Norway.
