Embrace me

My sweet embraceable you

Embrace me

My irreplaceable you

Just to look at you

My heart grows tipsy in me

You and you alone

Bring out the gypsy in me

I love all

The many charms about you

Above all

I want my arms about you

Dont be naughty baby

Come to mama

Come to mama do

My sweet embraceable you

I love all

The many charms about you

Above all

I want my arms about you

Dont be naughty baby

Come to mama

Come to mama do

My sweet embraceable you

Sarah Vaughn version of this song remains for me the benchmark version of this song In every respect. In 1954 she is at the pinnacle of her artistic power. The pianist Jim Jones is not one of the great pianist in the history of jazz but here he is eloquently understated and the perfect accompanist.

If I were forced to choose one vocalist's records to take with me to live on a desert island in the middle of nowhere, I wouldn't have to think about it: It would be Sarah's.
