If it is a uke reso it isn't in uke tuning.

According to Sam, that really is a mandolin. It was made by National in the 1930s. He didn't like the way it sounded when fretted by his fingers, so he started playing it with a slide.

Also, upon further inspection this may actually be a uke reso because it only has 4 tuning pegs. A mandolin is double strung so it would have 8 pegs. A ukelele is single strung only needing 4 tuning pegs.

Its a mando-reso crossover..I think National makes a model but not sure. Would have to go look on their website. Or try Republic, or Dobro, and I'm pretty sure Busker brand resonator out of the UK make a model..though I dont recall if its a mando or a Uke reso.

What is the resonator mandolin Sam is playing? Searching I see 6 string resonators, but no 4 string resonators. Thank you.
