Well, 2 years or so after my previous postings, I'm back!! Astonished to find that still nobody has posted this unsurpassed album on YT... and... Not only that, but STILL there has been no CD reissue!! Come on, guys - now you can post whole albums (and more) on YT, what's stopping you? SOMEBODY must have a clean-sounding copy of it that they can upload. And Sony records, or some imaginative reissue label... GET THIS ONE OUT ON CD... NOW!!! Before we're all too deaf... or dead! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE... etc.

@Sailormarinero Ooops! My mistake. Somehow, in my mind, he was there on the cover ;-) Lovely blokes, met them in Germany three years ago. At least he was there... :-)

@haj1909 Grant is not on the LP cover. It shows Phil, Henry plus Virginia and Gavin David - the band line-up that recorded the album!

They should've changed their name 'cause this is such a different sound and group. I like the LP, but why is Grant Serpell's pic on the cover if he doesn't even play on it...?

Now that all the Sailor back catalogue is out on CD, Dressed For Drowning would be the icing on the cake. I hope it will come out one day; meantime, this video is a tremendous piece of footage which I've never previously seen. Thanks :)

@Sailormarinero Thanks for the speedy reply! Yes, I did get Buried Treasure, and it was nice to get some of those tracks. But the fact that nobody has ever issued both those albums in their entirety on CD is beyond belief. Dressed For Drowning hangs together as an indivisible entity in my mind. I contacted Phil Pickett about 4 or 5 years ago about the possibility of a CD issue, and he gave me hope that the entire Sailor back catalogue was being considered for reissue. Since then - nothing. WHY??

@terryplatt Many songs from the unreleased "TV Land" album were finally released on Sailor's "Buried Treasure" (later also "Treasure Trove") anthology boxed set which featured lots of demos, live versions and unreleased stuff... Marvellous! :-)

And another thing: their sound benefitted greatly from the addition of the beautiful vocal colours of Virginia David. There was supposed to be a follow-up album to Dressed For Drowning, titled TV Land - but it was shelved indefinitely, because the record company had their heads far too deeply buried in the quicksand of punk and new wave. What beauty has the world lost because of that mad decision?

... mass production? I don't think so. Listen carefully to the detail in the stereo sound picture (pity this posting is mono). Album was produced by James William Guercio, responsible for Chicago and others. The greatest iniquity is that even after all these years, there has been no CD issue of this masterpiece, in any part of the world, as far as I can tell. Can you not hear the echoes of Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Beach Boys, Association, and many other influential bands of that era? Pure art!

Totally disagree with raul572001. Dressed For Drowning was far and away their very best album, showing a remarkable maturity of songwriting, arrangement and vocal/instrumental talent not evident in their earlier, formulaic poppy material (not that that wasn't great in itself). Yes it's a shame that GK had left the band, but to come up with tracks like this one, Don't Look A Gift Horse, Don't Send Flowers, and my personal favourite, Who Will Stop The Rain, in spite of his absence is incredible...

Sorry, but after George Kajanus left this group and they have left their specific unplugged sound it's became typical crap of mass production. Onemore sorry about that they left the line. They were uncomparable till that.
