The song is obviously about the Battle of Kursk, so I don't know why it is named after the Tiger tank, except that the Germans had lots of them by time of the battle (but lost anyway). After this fight, every German commander with a brain knew they were fucked. Who's going to tell Hitler he's wrong though?

Damn, these rolling Tigers are scary shit for 1943. Soviets still had only T-34-76, not T-34-85. No any Soviet tank or normal field gun could take head on a Tiger, except at blanket range. With tanks like T-34-76 one has to maneuver a lot to take on it broadside, and it was not easy at all, as a Tiger 88 mm excellent gun could take out a T-34 from 2000 m. Artillery has to be placed in some sort "traps", to take on a Tiger broadside too. Scary shit. Imagine that thing rolling head on in your direction. That said, to illustrate that USSR would have won the war anyway without any help from the West, as the tanks (and self-propelled guns) were the most important weapons on the Eastern Front, let's show the Soviet reply to these Tigers and Panthers (with Stug- and Jagd- versions). By 1944 IS-2 tank and SU-100 tank destroyer appeared and mass produced. They were already equal to the best Germany had, and much cheaper and easier to produce. More reliable too. The gun of SU-100 called D-10 is often neglected in even technical books of WWII. It was the best overall gun which can be fitted on any tank of the WWII. Soviets catched by 1944 in gun quality the German state-of-the-art. Now guess what Soviets had prepared for 1946, if anyone has doubts about the outcome of the war in case the West stood idle. T-54 equipped with D-10T 100 mm gun. Yes, the same tank used even today in many armies across the World. While Germans were building some 70 ton unreliable, slow and very expensive Tiger II, T-54 was at least its equal (and probably superior), 5 times cheaper, much more reliable and easier to produce. In 1946-47 about 10,000 of T-54 were expected to roll out of Soviet factories. Simply, Soviet tank and gun engineering became superior to that of Germany (not even talking of USA and Britain). Returning to Kursk, in 1943 these rolling Tigers look scary as shit, even the look of them in this video makes one shiver, if one knows what they are up to.

You know, even though Stalin and Hitler were both pretty horrible people, I have to admire and respect both the German Wehrmacht and the Soviet Krasnaya Armiya. The fact that they were conscripted, forced to fight, helps to forgive the Wehrmacht a little, and shows that the Krasnaya Armiya still fought valiantly without even having the freedom to not fight.I'm sure if half the people in these comments (myself included) were thrown into the Battle of Stalingrad or Kursk, they'd try to desert, or hide.

My granddad(we are Scots)was an military policeman and took part in the liberation of Bergen Belsen, so you can understand why(as a young man)he hated all germans and their allies. But, he also hated having to hand over Russians that fought for the Nazis to the commies, he ,and they(many such as Cossacks had their kids etc)knew they would suffer horribly. And my granddad knew the commies were savage too.
