The Battle of Gallipoli (Gallipoli Campaign, Dardanelles Campaign) was fought between 25 April 1915 and 9 January 1916 at the Turkish peninsula of Gallipoli. A joint British and French operation was mounted to occupy the peninsula and to use it as base for the conquest of the Ottoman capital of Constantinople. The attempt failed and on both sides in total 131,000 were killed and 262,000 wounded.

CAUTION!

I won't tolerate any racist, discriminatory or in any other form inappropriate comments! This song neither glorifies war, nor National Socialism, but should be considered as a historical work.

"No, we don't glorify anything, we just tell stories about things that have happened." (Rikard Sundén, Sabaton)

----------

I think Sabaton should have an album dedicated to WW1.

I really like the lyrics of this song. I love how it portrays the reality of the horror and worthlessness of war. That it's just young men with their whole lives ahead of them losing their lives and spilling blood on the sand, and the toll it takes on those who knew them.

What is the saddest sabaton song? It's so hard to decide considering they've got so many masterpieces like this one...

About the 262,000 wounded: Interesting fact (if not just horrible) more soldiers died of infected wounds in The great War than of direct enemy fire.

Really opens you up and makes you think. Think of the millions of men who fought, died, screamed, and cried for your right to sit on your ass in front of your computer, in your nice warm home, eating cheap fast food, not worrying that you'll be bombed or shot. I'm not privilege shaming, I'm just making people think about it.

Tactical Genius

I'm not saying that there weren't British Soldiers present during the campaign, but what our good friend wikipedia doesn't tell us is that therm 'British' was a reference to Britain AND her Allies. The majority of soldiers who made the landing were ANZACs. Interesting thought I always imagined; British officers sitting back while Australian, New Zealander and Ottoman Blood was being spilt.
