Here's an interesting thing to see.

I'm sure that this song is familiar to all Rainbow lovers and of course Rock lovers.

Believe it or not this hidious performance of the man called Russ Ballard, who turned

out to be the original maker of one of the most commercial songs in Rainbow's carrer.

Yes believe it or not this is original "Since You've Been Gone !

This performance was shot at Supersonic (very well known Musical Tv Show, which was

head to head with OGWT and TOTP during the 70's).

It was aired on 6th March in 1976.

I never understood what in the hell Ritchie saw in this sleazy pop song.... ?

But Ritchie is Ritchie, and he is truly a music Wizard.....

Cheersssss

he also wrote I surrender, which was a lot better, and Roger Glover helped with the 76 album, so that would be why

Russ Ballard is a very mysterious man. Estraordinarily good looking, effortless performer (singer/axeman), but it would seem a massive "under achiever".Well, not really - this song alone probably earned him enough to retire on.Then, go back to his days with Argent. Can you really say that you're not (at least subliminally) aware of;"God Gave Rock and Roll To you" (which he wrote)?"Hold Your Head Up" (not his song, but would Argent have had the hit if not for him?

The problem is that he looks like some bad 1970s' movie's idea of what a rock star dresses like!

I love the Rainbow version and I also like the Santana version of his Winning song but this is not hideous, I think its great and he is a very good song writer, singer and musician.

It might be a great songwriter, but when you hear this and compare it with the Rainbow cover, you'll understand not every songwriter makes a good singer....

Brian May did a crackin version of this :)

Very cool to hear the original version of this great classic song. One point no one has made yet in comments is that Roger Glover (bass player from Deep Purple) produced the Russ Ballard album that this song was on; Glover was playing bass for Rainbow when they recorded their version...maybe it was Roger's idea to re-record it?

Russ Ballard wrote the songs and put the groundwork in, but others arguably made them better, he's a legend
