Tribute to David Bedford, everybody remembers the stars but like the Titanic nobody remembers the engineers.

It has also been used as a tribute to John Peel. The accompanying music is brass band rather than orchestra - it's Grimethorpe Colliery Band. Truly brilliant and very moving.

When I was 13 I played for a men's team called Aldermary CC with my mate Graham, whose dad was the swing bowler. The best place we played was at Downe CC in Kent, complete with insect sounds and cow pats. This larger-than-life character with ginger hair fielded at silly mid-on. He must be long, long dead now but I bet he's still there with that huge grin on his face. He always will be to me, and I'm 65 now.

No, it's the bus to Garboldisham and the roast cream of Old England. As opposed to the deep-fried cream of Scotland.

makes me think of everyone running on the pitch at the end of the Test Match, fuck what happened, its all corporate now! you"d get thrown out now, for touching a blade of grass. Them days are long gone sadly.

It makes me feel so emotional once that brass band kicks in.
