I'm pretty sure the Ginger Baker incident was in '81 not '82.

A beautiful song, with a heartbreakingly gorgeous slide solo by Jimmy Page on the album version. Saw Roy a few times back in the eighties, fantastic gigs.

@UKRelic 50p. You were ripped off, at Stonehenge I remember paying 25p a gallon! Never made it to Glastonbury, went to Stonehenge a few times between 1974 and 1980, wonderful time.

I remember being there in what now seems a lifetime ago and can confirm the trouble on stage. Do you remember the home brew cider being sold by the half gallon, was it really only 50p? and the cess pits ugh I have put my photos as slideshow on YouTube love to hear from anyone who recognises themselves in the crowd shots! Great times

Ha! I've been looking for this!- After his stoning Ginger came to the front of the stage and said;" I saw who threw that-and want a word with him".....and all of this happened under the big peace sign above them!.......I was working on this stage at the time-did'nt have to mop any blood up tho'!.H.Hx.

I think the smiths were overblown. At the time Roy was big at college and the smiths, but Roy is a constant for me. Morrisey cannot sing. Roy is a poet, I think that gives the mortal, morbid connection.

You might think it's morbid - I think Roy's music is beautiful - talking of morbid - isn't it ironic that this sounds just a little bit like the Smiths (An old cricketer could have been a Smiths song) A year later The Smiths would take his 'morbid' idea - and become megastars.

I was there too:-) DrOzzy, what about Work of Heart then, maybe in 2 parts? I listened to the album again a while, sounds great even now, also saw this Work of Heart band at the Bierkeller in Bristol around the same time.
