You make a good point, music, lyrics and genre are very personal, we all like what we like. For me, the lyrics of this song strike a chord and in my opinion, would probably carry even a mediocre singer, (neither PG-T nor RD fit into that category), further than they would normally go. I was always under the impression that PG-T's version was released in 1976 (single) and RD's version 1975 (album). Thank you for listening to and commenting on the song

@swedaddy Thank you for your comment, it is much appreciated. Music and the emotions it evokes in individuals is a funny thing. In this track, yes separation is the theme, but for me, the track implies a "togetherness". However, both views make it a beautiful love song.
