How about an actual comment about just how good this song is, especially when it comes to its lyrics?! Hearing whimsical Robyn play a song this lyrically serious live was cathartic and cutting. I couldn't tell whether it was an indictment of me, an indictment of many, or a self-indictment... probably shades of all-of-the-above. Robyn Hitchcock, for all his surrealism and humor, likes playing the serious classics like Dylan. Lyrically, this is better than many, if not most of Dylan's early songs. I would call it classic Hitchcock, though I'm not sure it exactly fits... but he wrote it, and it absolutely deserves to do so.
