70s riot is pretty much hard rock/proto metal. But if you listen to their 80s works like thundersteel, that is very much power/speed metal. So that's why they are mostly known as a metal band and not a rock group.11 years ago

Hmmm...Not sure if I'd call Riot "heavy metal". They're a bit melodic. I think they are good old hard rock. Reminds me of a good cross between Rush and Van Halen and I don't consider VH heavy metal. Either way Riot kicked major ass and we lost a major force when Mark died.12 years ago
