A wonderful farewell song by Levon Helm from Electric Dirt. A typically evocative Levon vocal that combines his Arkansas timbre with a gorgeous gospel sound and words that resonate even more now than when he recorded them. Singer, writer, drummer extraordinaire, mandolin player, actor, and member of the Hawks, the Band, session player for Dylan, Ringo Starr, Muddy Waters and many more. The Midnight Ramble will never end. RIP

Go with God Levon your work down here is done and you done it like nobody else could have with bringing joy and happiness to everyone that was fortunate enough to have met you. One of my many musical memories was having a beer with you at a bar in plumsteadville pa while Rick was playing the shit out of his guitar and this other cat and i forget his name right now was blowing the harp. It was a small, small place maybe 35 people inside, but man did that music feel so fuckin' good. God bless Levon

I always loved The Band but never saw them. After hearing this song I really wish I had seen Levon play before he passed away... what a great performer. From one old orphan to another, RIP and God Bless
