What if you use a dry DI signal that you send to an amp sim? should it be compressed as well?

Hey, amazing video. I have a question. I'm thinking to buy Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 audio int. sound card. I have w8.1 really good specs laptop. I will be using gibson lespaul 490 498 pickups, recording with shure sm57. I heard there will be always annoying clipping and latency issues with focusrite scarlett series. is that true? Even if I use microphone from amp and select line on audio card? Also I have 1 more question may be dumb but do I need di box if I'm recording my guitar with (Guitar+amp+mic+sound card+laptop) ? I heard you only need di box if you want to connect your guitar directly to sound card without amp model or direct to mix, laptop etc. but I'm not sure its good to use on miking amp too. Sorry for my bad english. Thanks. Have a good day!
