Ray Price Mid 1980's with Moses "Blondie" Calderon on piano, Ray's life long friend who died in 2000. Moses "Blondie "Calderon was a big part of the Ray's show for almost 34 years. During that time, he and Ray developed a lasting friendship. He used his comedy as part of the act, stabbing at racial stereotypes with his jokes, and all the while proving that it doesn't matter who you are, it's what you do in your life that counts.

But do not forget Linda is the name of Ray's first wife, whom he never stopped loving.

I worked with those guys a little in the late 70s. Blondie was absolutely the best. He helped me survive some really tough times with his comradeship, which I will never forget. I met his family and folks down in Del Rio. Ray did not know what to think of me but he displayed great respect.

Thank you mguiterrez, txkam, and jeri for all this great info about my name, Linda! There's also an instrumental song called "Linda Lou" on the Ray Price and The Cherokee Cowboys CDs box set which was originally released in 1965 on the Western Strings album. Ray's first wife was called "Linda" although her actual name was Betty.

It is so obvious of the friendship Blondie and Ray had, he's never had a piano player that has even come close to Blondie. But I was thrilled when his brother started playing the drums for Ray. The story Ray tells on his 82nd Birthday DVD about Fernando is really funny. I'm sure I'll post more when I get time, so keep watching, those were the great years.

Blondie was my father-in-law, and friend. I am married to his eldest daughter. I really enjoyed watching the videos you've posted, especially the pre-2000 ones with Blondie on piano. Thank you for that.

Thank you, it does help. But believe me I am not going to tell my sister Linda what her name means, I'll never hear the end of it!!! LOL I have a bunch more Ray songs done in Spanish, one day I'll get them uploaded. I may not understand them, but it's a beautiful language.

By the way, "linda" can be translated as cute, or nice, beautiful, or pretty. What a great name!

"Adios Mariquita Linda" is a sad song of lost love. Translated as "Goodby cute ladybug", it is a man telling his love that he is leaving for distant lands because she no longer loves him like he loves her. Cute ladybug is just one of the many terms of endearment he uses to express his love for her. Originally written by Marcos A. Jimenez, and recorded by Xavier Cougat and his Orchestra, released in 1952. Hope this helps.

txkam I have searched and searched for a Spanish album by Ray but have failed to find it. Do you know the title? I take it then that Fernando is your Uncle also? Fernando as well as Moises were/are great musicians in their own right.

I think you're pretty correct, what I found was "Goodbye Ladybug Linda" or "Farewell Ladybug Linda" BUT my Costa Rican neighbor told me something else so when I ask him again, I'll post it here.

Thank you. I love it. My name is Linda. Love to hear Ray say my name! Does the title mean "good bye pretty ladybug"? My Spanish is a bit rusty.
