Old School 4 Life

*On this day:**At 13th June of 1985, Ratt released their second studio album "Invasion of Your Privacy". Featuring the singles "Lay It Down", "You're in Love" and "What You Give Is What You Get", the LP reached 2x Platinum in the US.*Ratt's brash, melodic heavy metal made the Los Angeles quintet one of the most popular rock acts of the mid-'80s. The group had its origins in the '70s group Mickey Ratt, which had evolved into Ratt by 1983; at that time the band featured vocalist Stephen Pearcy, guitarist Robbin Crosby, guitarist Warren DeMartini, bassist Juan Croucier, and drummer Bobby Blotzer. The band released its self-titled first album independently in 1983, which led to a major label contract with Atlantic Records. Their first album under this deal, 1984's 'Out of the Cellar', was a major success, reaching the American Top Ten and selling over three million copies. "Round and Round," the first single drawn from the album, hit number 12, proving the band had pop crossover potential. Released just over a year after their blockbuster double-platinum debut, Ratt's second album, 'Invasion of Your Privacy', contained all of the same ingredients that helped launch the band to MTV and radio success: a batch of commercially savvy pop-metal tunes and a half-naked model on the cover. This may seem like an overly simplistic analysis, but it helps make the point that, for all its many positive attributes (including a number nine chart peak), 'Invasion of Your Privacy' was very much a creative holding pattern for the group. If anything, returning producer Beau Hill merely helped Ratt fine-tune their songs and give them a brighter pop sheen (including some telltale electronic percussion), but although there were still hit singles to be had via riff-driven opener "You're in Love," "Lay It Down," and "What You Give Is What You Get," none of these challenged the first album's "Round and Round" in terms of commercial or cultural ubiquity. Nonetheless, another largely consistent selection of tracks (including fan favorites "Give It All" and "Between the Eyes") helped Ratt avert most accusations of looming creative stagnation, and the full flowering of budding guitar hero Warren DeMartini (while still leaving some lead work for co-axeman Robbin Crosby, the band's heart and soul) was a highlight in and of itself. Ultimately, no after-the-fact nitpicking can change the fact that 'Invasion of Your Privacy' was a perfectly respectable effort, much loved by Ratt's fans, and easily avoided any hints of a sophomore slump. The band has continued to tour and record following extended hiatuses and line-up changes, released their latest studio album, 'Infestation', on April 20, 2010. However, the band has been inactive since the departure of Stephen Pearcy in April 2014.#RATT #80sMusic#GlamMetal #Rock#HeavyMetal #HardRock#Music #OS4L

Robbinson Lantz "Robbin" Crosby (August 4, 1959 – June 6, 2002) was an American guitarist who was a member of glam metal band Ratt, earning several platinum albums in the US in the mid-to-late 1980s. Crosby died from a heroin overdose in 2002.Crosby was one of the original members of the Los Angeles rock band Ratt. He would end up co-writing many of Ratt's songs including "Round and Round", "Wanted Man" and "Lay it Down". The album Out of the Cellar went to triple platinum based on Crosby's co-penned "Round and Round".Crosby was dating actress Tawny Kitaen (who would go on to appear in several Whitesnake videos) at the time he joined Ratt, and she appears on the album covers of both the Ratt EP (1983) and Out of the Cellar (1984).
