How inevitable that anything Elvis related brings out the haters. Now we have loonies saying that Elvis wasn't has good has Ral Donner, and that Elvis couldn't have sung this or that any better, blah, blah, blah. Do you know how pathetically stupid and misinformed you sound? Instead of just talking bullshit, go and listen to the person of your derision. Elvis sold more records with a single record than Donner did in his entire career. Elvis walked into Sun Studios in 1954 and turned music and popular culture on its head. Did Ral Donner do that? Did he hell! You don't become the biggest selling artist in the world and a 20th century icon (and beyond) with the lack of talent you fucking morons attribute to Elvis. There's a list of famous stars from the Beatles to Bob Dylan who cite Elvis as an influence (and he directly or indirectly influenced all that came after him anyway). Show me one who ever mentions Ral Donner in the same regard. Elvis was a better ballad and rock singer than Ral Donner could have ever dreamt of being. The only connection he has to Elvis is as a demo record singer of a few Elvis songs - and then Elvis recorded the songs, giving them a supreme class and style that was his own. Right, rant over. Now you sneering Elvis haters can go back to living in your parallel universe where equally imbecilic cretins actually believe your bullshit.

Yeah he sounded like Elvis, but compare the catalogs...similar but radically different at the same time...I honestly doubt Elvis could have done any better on this (or "She's Everything" for that matter, and check out "Loveless Life" and "Run Little Linda" for some other truly individual sounds)...in all fairness, Ral never sounded quite as comfortable on pure country (but there's little comparison between Tupelo/Memphis and Chicago, I guess)
