I always prefer the Original version of a song, but I have to admit that sometimes there are some versions with diferent arrangements better than the original composition. Everybody have to bare in mind that YOUTUBE didnt exist when RAF's music was played on those days, so I can tell you people that he was a success in his time, I can say it because I lived those Disco days when people used to dance every weekend all those great songs. We didnt need Youtube and WEB followers, we simply used to go to the Records shops to buy the music we liked.

I am a music collector since 1977 and i can say that if and artist has millions of followers that doesnt mean that the version of her song has to be better that the original version. Laura Branigan did the cover of the song for the American market in 1984 but RAF was the original italian composer and singer, and as far as I know I was in 1983 dancing RAF's original version, his song was a mayor HIT of that time and played in all discotheques around Europe in 1983 and 1984, I can testify it, I have the original vinyl in my collection, so I can say that it was a success before Laura Branigan sang the same song one year later for the american market..
