Mad The Swine was written by Freddie, and recorded for the first Queen album, but was rejected, mainly because of pressure of time and a feeling that the recording hadn't done the idea justice. Many years later, the band were able to revisit the original multitrack tapes and, with a little polishing, bring the recording to completition, as presented here - a satisfying full circle.

Why don't they just use the vocals and build new music around it? It could be a great "new" song.I think the current backing is weak.

Great track for the beginning of Queen, it appears on the album Pre-Ordained and the Hit-single Headlong

Maybe the Swine is a prophet? Maybe Moses since there is the line "Let me bring you to the river without a ford", as in parting the waters? And the people he brings together are the Jew slaves of Egypt?

the person related to in this song? i think could be Jesus, or whoever comes in the name of the lord. in one part says, let me take you to the river without a ford... he could walk upon the water, so he´s just miraculous! love the end of the song, its like a church song.

One of my favourite's too, I just like the genre of religious pathos like in this song and the prophet's song.

Interesting.Maybe it is that. But who could be the swine?

I think it's a song about the ressurection of Christ, I came to this place long ago but this time I wear no sandals and I woke up on the water just as before, are the lines that make me think this. But the sandals part could be about entering the holy land, as when people entered the holy land they removed their sandals, and that's about as much as I know about that mythos.
