Poco live in 2004 with one of their three biggest hits. "Heart Of The Night" is from their most popular studio album "Legend", released in 1978. It is also my favorite Poco tune.

Poco is an American country rock band originally formed by Richie Furay and Jim Messina following the demise of Buffalo Springfield in 1968. The title of their first album, Pickin' Up The Pieces, is a reference to the break-up of the Springfield and is the only debut album ever to receive a perfect rating from Rolling Stone Magazine. A favorite of AOR FM stations in the early 1970s, Poco was considered to be a highly innovative and pioneering band.

Although the band charted a handful of Top 20 hits, overall their Top 40 success was uneven, and many of their most innovative records were commercially unsuccessful. Throughout the years Poco has performed in various groupings, with the latest version still active today. With 24 original albums and 26 "Best of" and anthology collections, the band boasts a total catalog of 50 releases.

One of my all time favorite ballads. The lyrics make me nostalgic for a place where I've never even lived- that's sayin' something! and that sax! that pedal steel guitar! that guitar solo! lovin' it.

I opened up for them in Commerce City in Denver Colorado on July 4th 2001. They sounded fantastic. Rusty Young even asked if he could get up and play a song with our band since we were from New Orleans. He wanted to play Jumbalaya with us,and we did. He sat in on a few songs with us. Later when they played, the bassist had issues with the equip. from the rental company, so he even used my equipment.....WITH POCO. Thas my claim to fame with them. Class acts all of them. Sounded fantastic! Plus Im from New Orleans so the song is significant to me!

I saw a lot of legendary performers starting with the Young Rascals in 1966, The Who a year later on their 1st US tour, Hendrix with the original Experience 3 times in a 18 month period all the way up to Devo, Yes, the Stones, Spirit, Zappa in many iterations, etc. through it all seeing the original Poco stands out as 2 of the greatest shows in all my years of concert-going. their playing, singing, harmonies, dynamics, overall sound even at an outdoor show was just magnificent. Rusty Young was a wild man on the pedal steel! if you didn't know any better you could swear there was a Hammond B-3 on the stage somewhere! Amazing.

Well a bunch of us are going to see some version of this group on Valentine's Day in Melbourne, Florida. We are hoping for the best, but it seems there are quite a few of the guys missing. We'll let you know how it goes.

Loved this band just as I loved the Springfield. The Eagles- love 'em or not - had a big edge in their ability to write incredible pop tunes with all those stick to you like glue hooks. Not Poco's strength really, a reason they maybe didn't seem to reach their early potential. Just a lovely band to listen to then- and now.

Not sure if poco hit the UK charts but I know the Eagles took Randy Meisner and Timothy B Scmidt from poco and I can see why,What a quality band,This is my first foray into Poco s music but what a great band.
