Jackie Wilson was also a big influence on Elvis as well. I remember hearing once that Elvis referred to Jackie as the black Elvis during an interview.

'Love is the revelation of our deepest personal meaning, value and identity. But this revelation remains impossible as long as we are the prisoner of our own egoism. I cannot find myself in myself, but only in another. My true meaning and worth are shown to me not in my estimate of myself, but in the eyes of the one who loves me; and that one must love me as I am, with my faults and limitations, revealing to me the truth that these faults and limitations cannot destroy my worth in their eyes.

I could listen Roy Hamilton all day long. My all time favorite of his is Don't Let Go. You can feel the heart and soul he puts into every song. I never heard this rendition of Pledging My Love before. It is truly fabulous! Roy left this world way too soon. Today's singers don't have a clue what "REAL" music is all about. As for Elvis copying Roy's style, Elvis was inspired by many singers. He idolized Roy Orbison, and was a huge fan of Carl Perkins. Roy Hamilton was also a big influence.

This is AWESOME! If you listen to Elvis's version which he recorded after Roy Hamilton Passed away in 1969, you will see what a great Influence Roy has on the Legendary Elvis's Musical Style. I think Roy Hamilton should be Inducted into The Rock & Roll Hall Of fame just because of his great Influence on Elvis and many other great artists of their day in ADDITION to ALL the GREAT HIT SONGS HE RECORDED!
