Mick said he made the album in English so that more non-French speaking listeners might use this as a gateway back to the original recordings. It is a sad truth, many English speakers seem to be afraid of music in other languages. So they miss out on much brilliance.

Even though I think this recording in particular is not so good - because you cannot hear very well what they`re singing - i have to agree with you. Not only the vocals are too crisp and clear nowadays, but all the instruments, making recordings utterly boring and somehow without soul.

They don't harmonize well, other than that, like this song--wish her vocals weren't so overbearing on his.

I'm french and I don't understand why they translate it. S. Gainsbourg's lyrics must be sung in french. Here the lyrics melody is lost. @Sydferret: try to learn the french lyrics, it sounds better. Initials BB, one of my fav with the entire album Melody Nelson (THE S.Gainsbourg's masterpiece). ;-)

Right up to the tops of her thighs She's got boots And its like a chalice To her beauty She's not wearing anything Aside from a little Essence of Guerlain In her hair At each movement You could hear The little sliver bells At her wrists Moving her rattles She moved forward And pronounced this word : Almeria

Initials BB One night while I was Sombering In some English Pub In the heart of London Looking over "Mon- Ster love by Pawels A vision came to me In the seltzer water While the Emperor's Medals Shine at her waist In bronze and gold The platnum carves In a cold circle The mark of slaves On each finger

I loved this song in Rush Hour 3 and finally found it on iTunes. This is a cool updated cover version.
