Well maybe they joked about Steve being a bit part actor in German films and promoted him to Film Star in an ironic way, though interestingly I heard Barbara Gogan on a radio interview years ago going on about Helmut Berger, maybe that sounded better and more high brow to say you wre inspired by a Visconti Film called The Damned with Helmut playing a real trouble maker in that for sure!! One can always invent the myths after the event I guess.

Haha, the song written by Barbara Gogan IS about Steve Connelly, one-time roadie to The Clash and Sex Pistols, who had minor roles in several German films ... [source: The Passions website bio page] ... no connection to Marlene Dietrich, although a certain Pete Murphy DID write a song on that very subject.

This is god awfull rubbish, and why is she dressed as Marlene Dietrich, I suppose she is the cliched german film star but the song isn't even about her. Go and have a listen to the original haunting song by The Passions, so much better than this tripe.

@coldwaryouth this is not so bad, and remember your siting there infront of your computer not on a dance floor with 10,000 watts behind it, there IS a difference... thats when i first heard this track and i thinks its pretty good Gui Boratto can tear it up, although i still prefer the original by the passion, whats terrible is the pet shop boys version of this i think Boratto totally rescued the train wreck that was the petshopp boys version
