How are so many of you bashing Vedder... the man is a legend. That's not a knock on Wood, who many believed was on his way to being a legend on his own. If you like Wood's voice better than so be it, that is your choice. I personally like the Pearl Jam version better. And I don't think you can compare Wood to Lane, Lane was incredible and I really don't think vocally Wood was near as impressive. But to each their own, and Pearl Jam has too many great songs to assume that MLB would be better

Andy was one of the kind- like layne he cannot be duplicaed- I love eddie's cover of this song but it cannot compare to Andy's- his voice was so different and stage pres- he had a serious giftwith all that- just chilling to watch him- I also noticed Eddie does not say "child" after "prayers" as did Andy-

All time great songs lol. They had one good album and lived off it for 20 years. If Andy Wood didnt die Vedder would have been singing in dive lounges imitating Bruce Springstein.

lol @ hack. Eddie vedder has been a part of numerous "all time great songs", and has achieved so much more in his career than Andrew Wood ever did. Yeah it's a great fucking song, but "what could have been" means nothing.

Ed sings the fuck outa this. I'd love to hear A.W. singing it. Ed would love to hear A.W. sing it too. Its great for Jeff and Stone. Not easy to thow good work away. How about 'Stardog Champion" for next tap into MLB catilog. A few great buried songs on 'Mad season' album also PJ would bring back to life.
