I think the original is MUCH better because its written and performed from the heart. While Paul Young's voice is sound. It's full of modelling poses. It seems like he is simply trying to cash in and make money by singing a great song. While I like hearing covers and dont mind this, i prefer when people try to put their own take on a cover.

i personally prefer paul carracks version live, but there's a nice compromise when the song was on Top Of The Pops where Paul Carrack - who was also playing keyboards - get to sing some of the second verse on his own. but if there's two fellas who could do this song justice it's the two pauls, princes of blue eyed soul both of them
