I listened to him years ago and bought his albums. The songs he writes are beautiful and were recorded by the Carpenters. I am glad I lived through the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and after that, the music was not for me. Too much good, old music to be bothered with today's music. With 2 exceptions, Pit Bull and Bruno Mars. I still like the way Richard Carpenter changed the bridge. It just modulates better and has a nicer build. I know Roger Nichols (Paul's co-writer) didn't like the change, but the Carpenters had the biggest hit with this song between all of the artists who recorded it.

One of my favorite songwriters, and I prefer Paul's recordings of his songs--nobody does them better than he does. I was lucky enough to see Paul in concert with my other favorite songwriter, Jimmy Webb. I got to talk to him afterwards and told him how much his music has meant to me. In fact, the title song from this album saved my life. Great album by a wonderful songwriter and a wonderful man! Love you Paul!
