Nataly’s Corner listens back to a music jamm from the first Jazzmasters series: Do you remember what you were doing when you first heard Paul Hardcastle’s The Jazzmasters CD? I certainly do. Raise your hand if you thought “The Jazzmasters” was a separate band or group? You can’t see my hand…but it’s raised. Yes, just like most of America…I thought the same. But I can blame my naïve-ness on the fact that I was very young at the time Jazzmasters was released. But back to my first question…I never will forget how I felt when I heard Paul’s music and Helen Rogers singing the song “Heaven”. I was driving in my car, listening to it on the radio. The music was so mysteriously beautiful...and Helen’s voice was so soft, smooth and melodic…unlike anything I had heard, at the time. I called the radio station to get the name of the artist and he stated “The Jazzmasters”. We chatted a bit about the music…but he never once mentioned Paul or Helen’s name! But by the time Jazzmasters II was released…I knew exactly who Paul Hardcastle was…and so did the rest of America! “Body Heat” is another great track from the Jazzmasters that I like.
