Running Bear and Little White Dove(Song from the 60s - first sung by J. Preston)On the bank of the riverStood Running BearYoung Indian braveOn the other side of the riverStood his lovely Indian maidLittle White Dove was her nameSuch a lovely sight to seeBut their tribes fought with each otherSo their love could never beRunning Bear loved Little White DoveWith a love big as the skyRunning Bear loved Little White DoveWith a love that couldn't dieHe couldn't swim the raging river'Cause the river was too wideHe couldn't reach the Little White DoveWaiting on the other sideIn the moonlight he could see herThrowing kisses 'cross the wavesHer little heart was beating fasterWaiting for her Indian braveRunning Bear loved Little White DoveWith a love big as the skyRunning Bear loved Little White DoveWith a love that couldn't dieRunning Bear dove in the waterLittle White Dove did the sameAnd they swam out to each otherThrough the swirling stream they cameAs their hands touched and their lips metThe raging river pulled them downNow they'll always be togetherIn their happy hunting groundRunning Bear loved Little White DoveWith a love big as the skyRunning Bear loved Little White DoveWith a love that couldn't die

It was't Pat Boone but the record company's that put out records of anything that looked like it was going to be a hit. If you lived in the fifties you should know that it was the A&R men at the record companies that told the singers what they would record. Georgia Gibbs has been charged with the same thing, Like Pat, she was given songs that black singers brought out first. This all changed with Dick Clark's TV show showing the white teens the black singers recordings.

Pat Boone had no shame. He would rip anybody off . I sometimes wonder if Alice cooper plays golf with him to keep tabs on him.

@studeystudebaker50 The orginal recording recording came out in 1960 by a singer named Johnny Preston. It reached #1 that year was a great song but my wife always liked Pat's better. Yes I remember Matt's "Walk Away" but I don't have it. I liked Matt but have very few of his songs.
