Deathcore is death metal with metalcore influences hence the breakdowns. If you like heavier music but dislike breakdowns, then listen to death metal or even black metal, whatever suits your taste

My point is that bands that pioneer a genre are original. Like it or not, originality is one of the core components of quality songwriting, and although bands that are considered original do have influences, they're not straight ripping them off. BTW, breakdowns in metal are way different from modern hardcore breakdowns because they're actual riffs rather than just one note played in a rhythmic fashion.

The Metal Archive only accepts like, metal bands that are metal through and through, Like Dethklok and napalm death and shit, they don't allow deathcore, metalcore, or djent. I personally think its retarded. But one big part of the skepticism is that a lot of hardcore metal fans frown upon the frequent use of breakdowns. So ignore that bullshit. Its basically like saying Limb Bizkit isn't rap because they have guitars. ._.
