There's an old tale wrought with the mystery of Tom

The poet and his muse

And the magic lake which gave a life

To the words the poet used

Now the muse she was his happiness

And he rhymed about her grace

And told her stories of treasures deep

Beneath the blackened waves

'Till in the stillness of one dawn

Still in its mystic crown

The muse she went down to the lake

And in the waves she drowned

And now to see your love set free

You will need the witch's cabin key

Find the lady of the light gone mad with the night

That's how you reshape destiny

The poet came down to the lake

To call out to his dear

'When there was no answer

'He was overcome with fear

He searched in vain for his treasure lost

And too soon the night would fall

And only his own echo

Would wail back at his call

And when he swore to bring back his love

By the stories he'd create

Nightmares shifted in their sleep

In the darkness of the lake

And now to see your love set free

You will need the witch's cabin key

Find the lady of the light still ravin in the night

That's how you reshape destiny

In the dead of night she came to him with darkness in her eyes

Wearing a mourning gown, sweet words as her disguise

He took her in without a word for he saw his grave mistake

And vowed them both to silence deep beneath the lake

Now if its real or just a dream

One mystery remains

For it is said on moonless nights

They may still haunt this place

And now to see your love set free

You will need the witch's cabin key

Find the lady of the light gone mad with the night

That's how you reshape destiny

And now to see your love set free

You will need the witch's cabin key

Find the lady of the light still ravin in the night

That's how you reshape destiny

This game has the best story I've ever played, and I am obsessed with it and this song especially. I'd love to see Remedy make some more Alan Wake games, or maybe even one about Thomas Zane, a prequel, to help explain the world of Alan Wake and to uncover the truth of his world and its conception.

still strange that the voice of Tor and Odin are different when they sing :))))))

It won't. Remedy can't find a publisher for it at the moment so they are working on a new IP called Quantum Break instead.

Play Alan Wake's American Nightmare, clears up some questions.

All of it. And the question wasn't for you. Though, I looked in the comments and it seems that Isaiah knows their story.

Wow after watching both American Nightmare and The Writer videos, the game makes a Hell lot more sense.

SPOILER ALERT (if anyone even still playing this game) I still don't get the ending in which the wife comes out and can't find Alan, and Alan last words was "It's not a lake...it's an ocean." Only thing i can connect that to is when Zane first appeared in his Nightmare and told him something about an ocean and "To these ports i have been." I heard that a sequel will be made as soon as the Xbox 720 is released...

well, i think alan is the crazy one. if zane was insane, why he wrote alan's story? he made his story about darkness to bring his wife back, he didn't need to write another story about it. and there's a scene in the game showing that the house in the lake was alan's imagination. and another that he wake up in a asylum who explains his madness, and there are a few other factors that explain it. Yes, it does hint to that, since he wrote about the clicker even before Alan came to...I don't remember the name of the town. Anyway, It'd be a bit disappointing if that were true, Alan kinda grew on me. And how does that explain American Nightmare?

Dude, I was kidding! Anyway, thank you for your reply! Your theory is very interesting (it reminds me of the film "Stay" and the video game "Dear Esther"), even though I have to say that the story is "opened" to various interpretations! Everyone will interpret it in a different and alternative way! I have to say that the style of the story reminds me of Stephen King's "1408" (after all, let's not forget that the makers of "Alan Wake" were strongly inspired by Stephen)! Anyway, a very good game!
