Holy mother of pearl, the drummer is running away with it! Weldon starts out at a nice easy tempo and the drummer keeps speeding up. Hey, chill out, this isn't about you, it's about a great steel player. You can tell the drummer has played in clubs a bunch and is used to playing on top of the beat, and on top of that, and on top of that, and on top of that. Great guitar break by the late Bobby Caldwell. Weldon has such great hands.

@lousteeler Wow, thank you for the kind compliments. I just play what I feel. Not a super picker by any means, but I love it. Bill

I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with him through a friend. He got me on the stage at the Grand Ole opry to watch him play and meet all the classic stars. What a great man, friend and father I am sure.

One of the truly legendary nashville steel men. along with Hal Rugg, Lloyd Green, Pete Drake they were the sound of Nashville in the 60s and 70s.

6029mute Are you using a dial up or high speed connection? You are the only one that has said anything about the music cutting out. I just watched and it was fine. Bill Ferguson (Steelpicker)

cmlbob is absolutely correct - country music just isn't the same without this beautiful sound. Weldon Myrick truly is a 'great'.

His technique is flawless, making this complicated instrument look like duck's soup to play, which is the mark of a true master. Thank you ever so much for sharing this beautiful rendition. :-) Tanya Rose

You're thinking of Cayton Roberts who played such great non pedal steel with Hank Snow.

There is absolutely nothing more beautiful than a Steel Guitar in country music!!! I grew up loving honkytonk and the great men who picked the steel!! The lack of it in these modern country songs is more than noticable!!! Thanks for the great videos of these legendary artists......... and the great old songs they've perserved here!!
