These old videos of them are so classic. God I miss this band.

Yes, and it's unlikely that they'll ever get back together. HOWEVER, look up the Punch Brothers and prepare yourself for a splendid surprise :)

It's the same tune as the hymn Wondrous Love. Look up the version by Matt Smith with Indelible Grace Music

This tune is basically the same as the hymn Wondrous Love, so it's been around for a while.

Are you saying this group broke up? Darn, I just "discovered" them in the last year, are they really done?

I think that's exactly what drove the group apart though. They're not accompanying him, they're just as much in the band as he is.

Then why does it sound SO. DAMN. FAMILIAR? I could swear I heard the melody from the first half years and years ago, long before anyone had heard of Chris Thile.

Beautifully done. Original thinking. Pretty well perfect in my opinion. I'll be buying one of their CDs for sure.

Check out Punch Brothers, Chris Thile's newer band, they're great

I discovered them 'late career'. Fortunately I caught them during their "Farewell for Now" tour. It the sentiment of that tour was accurate, we haven't seen the last of them. And I think this is a good bet.

I felt the same way until I realized they all have done amazing projects on their own. Now instead of one great band there are three + projects. Check out the Punch Brothers, Fiction Family, Sara Watkins, Sean Watkins and Works Progress Administration.

I'd love to see this group publish new material, i just recently discovered them and i am obcessed with their music. He's an absolutely excellent mandolin player, and the Watkins accompany him greatly in every piece they played in. I guess i'll stick to pandora and youtube to listen to the same ole awesome songs

I just discovered Chris Thile's instrumental album, *"Not All Who Wander are Lost."* It's a really refreshing CD that still has a good bluegrass flavor, but takes things in a non-traditional direction. Here's one of the songs on it.

@RibakTB It's an original. Thile wrote it for (if I remember correctly) a great-grandfather of his named Sam Thompson, who was also a pretty great baseball player. He said that Irish aires always reminded him of baseball so it seemed appropriate :)

I miss Nickel Creek sooo much. I've seen them twice in concert and that is the only way to truly experience their magic. When performing live, they transcend inherant boundaries associated with the studio process...a place where improve magic and sweet release ensues...

@toxicmegacolon That's a very common style in Irish/Folk, combining two similar songs.
