He's saying the song is ghastly because it perfectly encapsulates how all men are liars. Rick is redeemed in the end in that he learns the truth. Plus it gives nick a chance to rhyme Astley with ghastly.

Not one of his best, but pretty damn catchy, for what that's worth. At the very least, this song (and video especially) reflects the awkward moment many musicians face during a long career as they try to stay relevant and take a risk. Who on earth decided to throw in those dancing flowers?

I love the all the clever irony in this song. It's a song about how all men lie. Being sung by a man. Who swears that he's telling the truth. Cute bit of songwriting.
