(ctd) I do like the old-school echo-plex style of the early DK's guitar riffs. He insists that he wasn't influenced by surf or rockabilly at all, rather that he liked the old western films and the music in them.

It's a matter of subjective taste, but what you are hearing is the difference between what they could afford then (guitars, amps, recording eqipment) and what is now available to the likes of a veteran like Biafra. I used to play through a cheap solid state amp with my old band, and record on a 4 track cassette machine, but I like my new stuff better. I imagine, as musicians, these guys are pretty happy with the sound they can afford, Alternative Tentacles being an actual way to make a living.

At least when the Misfits reformed they wrote new songs (albeit mostly terrible). There's no excuse for what they're doing though

Yeah, it's not so much about taking sides, (though I would tend to believe Jello) since we'll never really know what actually happened. It's mostly that the "new DK" are just playing old songs. How many original songs have they written since they reformed like 15 years ago? One I think? Shows who was the main songwriter and the spirit of the band.

I have little to no respect for Klaus, Ray and DH's current project, ie a DK cover band. Jello however still rules.

Unfortunately, they are...after extensive legal struggles they are no longer on speaking terms from what I understand. I think it's tragic that misunderstandings / disagreements over money can tear apart friendships and a legendary band. Still, respect to all the members and their respective current projects.
