the first two verses seem pretty abstract, and are open to interpretation, but i think the last verse is about sexual corruption, or the denial of love in sex, and the subject's love for a person driving him to avoid intimacy ("i'll sleep out in the gutter, you can sleep here on the floor") and away from the world (by self-immolation, setting himself on fire "with a match that's mean and some gasoline")
