Five years before her boots were made for walkin' a less fetchingly attired Nancy Sinatra was content to let her sneakers do the walkin' while performing the 1957 Fats Domino song "I'm Walkin'".

Nancy put out about 13 singles from 1961-1965, on her dad's label Reprise, none of which made the charts in the U.S. However, some did well in Europe, Japan and South Africa. Her biggest competition was Annette Funicello. Nancy had a unique style in this "novelty song" genre. Well arranged songs with orchestral conducting by Tutti Camarata on many of the earlier ones. The double-voice tracking, a recording technique & gimmick developed in the late 50's was utilized to augment and strengthen weak voices like Annette's and Nancy's, and it was employed often here. She also harmonizes with herself sometimes, made possible by multi-track recording.I have most of these on the original 45's. I have two copies of "Cuff Links and a Tie Clip" / "Not Just Your Friend", which was her first release that have glossy color picture sleeves.Too bad such talent went unnoticed here in the U.S. She was one of the better young girl singers. You can see her with a flip hair style in the movie "Get Yourself a College Girl" which also features Astrud Gilberto and Stan Getz performing "Girl from Ipanema".

The only reference I have ever heard her mention to Bobby Sands was she was stupid to marry him. It is a tad ironic if you think of what happened to them 4 years later lol.

Wow interesting and rare clip, nice of you to share it - I almost wouldn't recognize her in that get up - whoever wisely advised her to lighten her hair was on the right track ~ it's funny that she approaches Tommy Sands (at the end of the number) and then turns away from him. Nancy, like many performers, innocently did quite a few flop records before she Hit the charts hard with "These Boots are Made for Walkin" ~
