@Giradox The levels of the instruments have nothing to do with the producer, it's on the mixing engineer

Yeah, excluding Follow Me. :)

Actually, Follow Me was co-produced by Nero (as saddening as it is) but luckily it still sounds like Muse

By the way, T2L and TR were produced entirely by Muse.

Let me enlighten you. If you don't know what a producer does, why comment on how "pathetic" of a producer Rich Costey is? You obviously don't know what producing is about, yet you judge the producing of several albums. Also, producing isn't about how loud the sounds are. And you don't need to know lots of things soncerning producing to know that it's not about the loudness of a track. I'm sorry to say that, but your comments make you seem stupid. I hope you are just trolling.

Care to explain why your defending this producer who fucked up one of the potentially best albums of all time ?

If you knew anything about production which you clearly dont i wouldnt have to even point anything out. BHAR is way too compressed for a start.

Care to qualify that?

Because rich costey fucked up Black holes...

Didn't mean to imply that. I know he produced abso and BHAR, and did a wonderful job. I just meant his work on panic station was his only involvement with the band after those two albums. But I can't help but belive that him producing the 2nd law would have made an improvement.

451harri

Yeah, but you seem to be implying that he had no involvement in Muse's other albums.

You know some things go uncredited, right? I believe I just heard this in an interview.

451harri

You're wrong. You know you could just, y'know, look up the credits for the albums?

Oh man you are giving me an anuerism every comment you post.

I heard he produced the vocals on panic station. That's it lol

Not a touch on the original. But it's Muse, so it's good.

The guy specializes in filling out the sound of a song without cluttering. He creates a tapestry and to do so without creating a mess is difficult, and is indeed hugely desirable when you're hired to produce proggy, atmospheric music. Anyway, a producer is someone who supervises the recording process, provides ideas for recording, and oversees mixing/editing. T2l/Resistance were produced by Muse alone. Showbiz/OOS were produced by John Leckie, producer of The Bends. Absolution/BHaR were Costey.

As much as I think Absolution is great, I think T2L is much better (subjective lol) and I have a few favourite tracks from TR I consider better as well. Costey isn't good if he can't NOT follow the pathetic loudness war, and make everything dull and bland. I don't know quite what a producer does, because they've never done an album entirely by themselves, all of the tracks off T2L are also produced by someone else. If you know a lot about it, please enlighten me... :)
