A *completely rewritten* arrangement for two pianos of the 11th Doctor's signature piece - based on the composition by Murray Gold as orchestrated by Ben Foster.
My original 2 piano arrangement of "I Am The Doctor" (including version 2) was a very early one. And I always (well, pretty much) hated it. It was dull, it was dead, it was unpianistic, in countless places it was downright wrong, it wasn't supposed to be viewed by 100,000 people (although, thanks for that :-) ) etc.
So, over the past years, I slowly revised it whenever I played it, but it never got to a point where I considered releasing a new version. Instead, I eventually started over, throwing out the first arrangement and writing an entirely new one from scratch. This is that new one. Seemed appropriate to finally finish it (as much as I ever finish any arrangement) in the Eleventh Doctor's last year.
Closer to the original orchestral version by miles (I think), and with a much better, and much more lively, recording. I decided to uphold the actual 7/8 time signature this time around.
Just as the original arrangement, this piece includes part of "The Sun's Gone Wibbly", as well as "Words Win Wars" (as it was heard at the 2010 Doctor Who Proms).
As always, the actual theme in its full orchestral glory, as performed by the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, is available on the Series 5 soundtrack, released by Silva Screen Records on CD and for digital download:
