This is the most beautiful song I've ever heard. I even want this song at my funeral.

*Albums of the Year*Murder By Death - "No Oath, No Spell" (Violitionist Sessions)Coming in at #8, is Murder By Death's 6th studio album, *Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon* (6 points, which feels low but is what I wrote down so whatever).Story Time! Back in 2003, Cursive's *The Ugly Organ* came out. This great album had such an impact on me at the time, my online alias for the past 10 year (DriftwoodProse) was partial inspired by one of the songs ("Driftwood: A Fairy Tale") and has two songs on my top songs list (20 of my all time favorites) - "The Recluse" (#4) and the aforementioned "Driftwood" (mid-teens, things get less specific after the top ten). The interesting thing about *The Ugly Organ* versus previous and further albums from Cursive, this one prominently featured a cello. It was at this moment, I realized the cello was a great instrument for a rock and roll band (shout-out to Rasputina!)Also, in 2003, an album came out from a little band - Murder By Death. And wouldn't you know it? They featured a cello! The album was *Who Will Survive and What Will Be Left of Them?* It was a thrilling album, a story of some men in Mexico who decide to kill the devil in order to escape their sins. Plans don't go well, and the devil then lays waste to the entire town. The whole album has a very spaghetti western feel to the music, the cello taking a prominent role in the town's miserable state. I worked a part-time job at the time, walked the two miles to and from every day, and this was what I would have on repeat. However, this was also in my downloading days and...I didn't exactly buy this album. So when I cleaned out my library of anything I didn't own, I no longer had this treat.Fast-forward to 2012. Skimming the AV Club for new releases, seeing what's good, and look at that familiar name on there! Murder By Death was coming out with a new album. Murder By Death had always been high on my buy list, but for whatever reason, never got to it. But a new album is the perfect opportunity to catch up on a discography. I started with my old favorite, and that hasn't skipped a beat to my ears. Still a perfect story encapsulated with the perfect music. I also got the new album, *Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon*. (I've since filled out with the remaining four albums, but we're not talking about that now).*Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon* is a very confident album, from a band that knows it's strengths and weaknesses. Songs like "My Hill" would be at home, thematically, with Arcade Fire's *The Suburbs*. "No Oath, No Spell" has the same hopelessness that I fell in love with on *Who Will Survive...* Song after song of a band playing at top form, consistent and surefooted.Cannot recommend this album enough, so check it out!

She's so beautiful. Why is it so rare/hard to find a woman who is an actual artist? Too many non-unique people in this world.

I much prefer this acoustic version to the big studio one. Way better with just the guitar and cello.
