LYRICS:

This is the story of a man that I know

A man with heart of gold

But a body becoming weak

And a mind that let him go

This is a story of a man and his wife

And how she died of that same disease

How he stayed with after her spirit left

But he won't remember her death

It's a deadly dull

Like a sword stuck in it's sheath

A mind once sharp and full

Now clouded and diseased

What's it like to be erased

Every time you fall asleep?

Waking up as a clean slate

Without a sense of reality

And will I end up the same way,

When I grow old and turn to gray?

As time leaves me behind to fade away

This is the story of a man that I know

He knows my face, but he doesn't know me

Pretends he does every time we meet

And puts his questions on repeat

Like "Are you staying out of trouble?"

"What's the plan?" "Can we go see G-Ma down the street?" "When I saw her last, she

didn't say much of anything" "If I were there think how much better it would be"

They break the news a few times a week

Every time it's followed by the same thing

He sits outside and keeps quiet for a while, then forgets and goes to sleep

Life with a heavy soul

Death by a deadly dull

Will that be me eventually?

A mind once sharp and full, now clouded and diseased. My dad has schizophrenia. His minds not all there, but I remember when it was. I have a high chance of developing it later in life and will I end up like him? He also has physical ailments and this just hits me so hard. He doesn't remember who likes ketchup or how many times he asked a question. His delusions mess with him so bad.

I just recently rediscovered you guys a few weeks ago. My grandpa passed away from dementia/stroke in that timeframe as well. Deadly Dull hits me so close to home that it hurts, it’s literally a song about him and what ailments were harming him and how he passed. He didn’t care about himself, he cared about other people more. He just wanted to make people happy.I can’t stop replaying this song...Thank You, this helps.

You guys were amazing at Cornerstone in Berkeley yesterday, great crowd of good people. This song hit me so hard, having worked with dementia patients brought back really fond memories. Beautiful song, and a hell of a show✌

This song makes me sad in the sense of the lyrics and message. But makes me happy it has been written and performed so well from an amazing band such as these guys. Movements brings back melodic emo with a hard hitting thunder of a force. I'm so glad these guys exist. I haven't heard such music like this since early Thursday.

I just discovered this band last week and I'm obsessed. This whole album is awesome. The music definitely isn't as complex as I usually listen to but the vocalist's voice is awesome and his lyrics are really deep and original. It's been a while since a band has had this kind of impact on me due to their lyrics alone.

Thanks Movements, my mom has Alzheimers, and this song really connects with me, she's doing relatively well but it''s still hard for her and it hurts seeing her cry and everytime i do, i don't have to ask why. love you

Made me think of my great grandfather who went from one of the largest and strongest people I knew with a super quick wit and knew the answer to just about anything I could ask him, to a frail and small man who didn't know who anyone was or how to tie his shoes in less than 2 years.

Fantastic. Every time I listen to it again I think "I'm not gonna tear up again, I've heard it 100 times" and then it still gets me every time
