Classification is one thing, overclassification is another. There are so many pretentious pricks in the metal scene that only focus on what subgenre of metal it is and not the music itself, and that ruins it for the rest of us. I understand differentiating major subgenres from each other (like black/death/thrash/folk/power/doom/progressive/post) but ultimately the genre shouldn't define the band, the band should define the genre.
