How do, how do you do?

My name is you

Flies, they all gather around me and you too

You can't see anything well

You ask me what size it is, not what I sell

The flies, they all gather around me and you too

I don't want you to be alone down there

To be alone down there, to be alone

The Devil's apprentice he gave me some credit

He fed me a line and I'll probably regret it

I don't want you to be alone down there

To be alone down there, to be alone

Aaaahh ahhh ahhhh (continued.)

I don't want you to be alone down there,

To be alone down there, to be alone (2x)

I was recently asked the question "What are your fears? and I don't mean like fear of spiders or the dark or such, like what are your real fears in life?" And I challenge you to list your fears if you know them.mine are:I'm afraid of being affectionate and showing emotions around people that care about me, I'm afraid of life's vicissitude's and never being consistently happy, I'm afraid that I wont find someone who understands my complicated soul, I'm afraid of forgetting memories, times, and hardships with amazing people I've been fortunate of meeting throughout my life. and lastly I'm afraid of being abandoned.

I think of this song as if in a past life i was cast away like a broke tool and taunted while i could do nothing but look up at the witches.

This whole album is about NOT watching the shadows on the wall, rather, turning around and looking at what it is in our lives that drives everything. Extremely sad, but also brutally realistic. Uplifting in a scathingly honest way.

The lyrics to this song are one of the most profound things I’ve ever heard. In my opinion, all MM songs seem to tell a story.I’ve always thought this song was about a girl trying to buy drugs off a dealer. She doesn't know what to ask for: “you ask me what size it is not what I sell”. Someone’s laughing in the background because she sounds stupid but the dealer can tell she didn't ask because she doesn't care. He knows she’s depressed so he tags along with her. “the devil’s apprentice he gave me some credit/he fed me a line and I’ll probably regret it” really means he was trying not to use anymore but feels he has to, to save the girl’s life. He’s in the same place as she is so he can’t lift her up but he can save her from being “alone down there”. The song is about a selfless experience. The greeting from the beginning “my name is you” shows the profound empathy he feels.

Eric Judy. He's amazing. One of my favorites. He was alot better with their older albums, though. He did really neat stuff. He kinda became standard with their newer stuff. Not that he's bad or anything. He's still on of my favorites.

My personal take on this song is about someones gradual descent into insanity, with the narrator separating into two different entities and his insanity is talking to him "How do, how do you do. My name is you" and His normal conscious doesn't want him to be alone with his insanity.

This album a trip through a very depressed life for me a least. "cold part" is (to me) a person committing suicide. This song(god this song is scary) is the persons last moments of conscience as the grim reaper comes and takes him away.. Then the "stars are projectors" is that individuals "soul" "conscience" becoming a part of the "universe" and is later reincarnated but has no memory of the completeness it once felt and repeats a depressed cycle again. Just my personal take on it

There are a lot of meanings for this song that fit just perfect! for me it's about an addictive but impossible relationship, though... the "love" (or lust, or whatever) is cursed by the flies, and the narrator knows he (or she) means nothing good for his loved one, yet he want's to take him, even rotting... he needs him like a drug, but in the other hand, he doesn't want his lover to be harmed by anyone - but him.

Yeah have to say I always thought this song was about drug use (a lot of MM songs are) - the whole idea of not wanting someone to be alone down there (misusing drugs say) but while the sentiment is nice, to be down there with them, you're probably going to be just the same, wasting your life and away...the whole "he fed me a line and i'll probably regret it" sums it up
