The expressive power of the sound architecture breaks with any form of transcription of the real to attach itself to the expression of an elusive universe. Colors and rhythm of this composition is a language that gives voice to exaltation

Thanks for sharing. Fantastic broken hearted song…I love it…btw, I may be mistaken, but in my opinion there’s only verses in that song…I am not able to perceive any chorus which sounds even more amazing…

I used to own a CD of these Amsterdam Radio recordings; I'm sorry I traded it back in to the record store.  I still think this is one of the most distinctive examples of both Jerry's and Peter's guitar-playning; it really blows me away.  It also is remarkable, quite frankly, how well Moby Grape's crosstalk and guitar sound held up without Skip in the band, as was the case for all of those Amsterdam radio recordings.

Great version of a GREAT song!!!  Moby Grape '69 is one of the most underrated albums in rock and roll history!!!

When they exploded onto the SF scene they were billed as America's answer to the Beatles. They sure seemed like it at the time. That's how good they were. Long live the Grape.

Ooh, lovely chilled version of a classic. Was there a smoother voice of that era than Peter Lewis?

Unfortunately, they didn't get much air time on the radio, excellent band, under rated. Obscure.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAAAAAA! I JUST WASTED A MOUTHFUL OF PETES WICKED ALE ON YOUR POST and i agree. what a band. and like you said, why does lady gaga get millions of views, and the humble grape gets nada? so much soul, so much REAL talent. great lyrics, great song composition. really?, lady gaga? God does have a sense of humor, but i think even God says wtf? sometimes go grape!

This was recorded at the RAI convention center in Amsterdam in 1969. I just used the Monterey picture as a background because of the cool light show colors.

Jerry Miller still plays around Tacoma pretty regular. Moby Grape was Led Zeppilins favorite American Band.

Im obsessed with this band and this song but this version is amazing. My gawd....And its so sad how they arent as well known as they should be. Such a treat to hear 'em live. Thank you so much. Blessings & peace ♥

@altcountryguitar Moseley is God on vocals, but this track is Peter Lewis -- a sweet, melodic, but thinner voice than Moseley. Grape had four great vocalists. So totally locked in.

Thanks for the post. Always had a soft spot for Bob Mosley's vocals. Pure soul. The harmonies on the album version are just killer. In a better world, you'd be hearing Grape classics all over your radio...which only reinforces my belief in a vengeful supreme being who has abdicated all responsibility, handed the car keys to Satan, and let slip the dogs of war, Lady Gaga and Ke$ha. (As they say in New Jersey, " I got yer summer of love right here.")

I just disocvered this song about 45 mins ago and all I can say is wow! What a heavy song. I wish they jammed out longer on their songs. There was some serious talent in this band. I've known about these guys for so many years but tonight is the first time I've ever listened. Some good days ahead?
