You got the songwriters' names wrong. It's Bill Danoff, Taffy Nivert, and John Denver

This is funny okay, production and vocals and all that are so so, but the thing that compels people to say that John Denver is rolling in his grave right now is the fact that this rendition undoubtedly dumbed down a Denver classic.

I like the cover. I don't get why people say John Denver would turn over in his grave though? This cover doesn't do the song injustice. Also, I feel it's a nice folk/country pop cover and John Denver was a folk/country pop artist, so I find he probably wouldn't hate it but yet be flattered that his music has touched other artist.

We need more music like this..... Timeless. Great job Mike. Keep up the good work. Rip John Denver.

It'd be a lot neater if he was actually playing guitar in this. I hate people instrument-syncing.DK

"You do realize that I could change that to say Mike Doughty was a black jazz musician from the 30's right?" I love people that argue "nuh huh". You make it too easy.

Really a Wikipedia quote? You do realize that I could change that to say Mike Doughty was a black jazz musician from the 30's right? Yes he did go to school with Ani DiFranco who is no doubt a folk singer, but his music didn't reflect folk until after Soul Coughing. I played some Nirvana songs back in high school too, but that doesn't make me a grunge musician.

And trust me, your not telling me anything about Soul Coughing, I still have my original CD case and wore it out years before they ever hit the radio or TV nationwide.

"didn't start getting into folkier songs until he went solo with his acoustic years later." ***Mike Doughty (who billed himself at the time as "M. Doughty") was a folk singer (he attended Eugene Lang College with Ani DiFranco, where they studied with Sekou Sundiata and played around the school together), slam poet, sometime music writer, and doorman at the old Houston Street location of The Knitting Factory,*** as per Wikipedia. No, my comment was never about this song but the genre itself.

I can't wait until Wednesday, I get to see him play a double show in NYC performing songs from all his solo albums and some of his reworks of Soul Coughing that's going to be on the new album. I think it's the first time he's played SC songs live in around 10 years.
