On This day in 1980 {September 13th} Mickey Gilley performed "Stand By Me" on the syndicated TV program 'Solid Gold' Four months earlier it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart, eventually it peaked at #22 & spent 18 weeks on the Top 100... It was featured in the movie 'Urban Cowboy'... The song was originally recorded by Ben E. King, and he charted twice with it {#4 in 1961 & #9 in 1986} This 'Solid Gold' show was its debut episode, it ran until July 23rd, 1988 with a total of 332 episodes...Videos Relacionados
